Abstract
The distortion moment microwave spectrum of a heavy molecule has been detected for the first time. Ninety-three transitions obeying the selection rules ΔJ = 0 and ΔK = ± 3 have been observed in 16OPF3 between 9.4 and 12.4 GHz. By using the current value of 217.52(4) MHz for the difference (A0 - B0) in the two rotational constants, the molecular structure has been obtained from ground vibronic state microwave data alone.
