• Grain size separation is the most economical solution to identify cereal pollen. • The appropriate size thresholds for Sundaland region are statistically analyzed. • Provides thresholds for identifying common/major cereal pollen. • Provides thresholds for identifying pollen of ancient, forgotten or lost cereals. • Improve pollen reliability to detect early cereal cultivation in the Sundaland.
