Abstract

AbstractA study is presented on the classification of prehistoric stemmed projectile points as arrow or spear points, based on data from the upper Texas coast. It is demonstrated that the key attributes for classification of this type are thickness, neck width, and weight. The classification of specimens as arrow or spear points is generally successful in this study. There is a mixture of classification categories for specimens in the weight range of 2 to 3 grams.
