Abstract
Abstract In order to ensure respect for and protection of the civilian population and civilian objects, a party to an armed conflict shall at all times distinguish between the civilian population and combatants and between civilian objects and military objectives and accordingly shall direct its military operations, including military space operations, only against military objectives. This Rule is based on the principle of distinction, as formulated in Article 48 of Additional Protocol I.
