Abstract

This paper presents Distance Learning Platform used by Institute of Electronics Silesian University of Technology. Platform is based on modular object-oriented dynamic learning environment named Moodle. Moodle is an open source e-learning platform. Currently Moodle is used by 6300 sites from 136 countries. Moodle represents LMS (Learning Management Systems) technology, a software package designed to help educators create quality online courses. Currently Institute of Electronics has created 70 online courses designed for Electronics and Telecommunications students. Number of Distance Learning Platform users exceeds 2400. Distance Learning Platform works as typically asynchronous e-learning service, but in the future more synchronous e-learning services will be added.
