Abstract

This article reviews the evolution of the theoretical influences upon the study of distance education and explores the influence of the emerging telecommunications technologies upon questions important to the continuing professional education of health professionals. The article offers multiple frameworks for posing research questions designed to help us understand professional learning in the new telecommunications environment.
