Abstract

The paper deals with the wireless Mobile Sensor Networks (MSN) and presents new deployment algorithm to achieve maximum coverage not only by minimum number of sensors but also with the minimum average moving distance of sensors. In this paper, we present a novel sensor deployment algorithm called the distance constrained deployment (DCD) algorithm. The proposed algorithm only needs the location information of neighbors in one-hop and boundary information of the area. The simulation results show that, sensors in proposed algorithm achieve smaller average moving distance than existing algorithms, providing complete coverage in spite of distance constrained in sensors movement. It is also shown that the proposed algorithm is applicable in practical environments with obstacles.
