Abstract

The dissolution of log-normal powders, particularly in that period before the smallest particles disappear, was examined. An approximation for the slope of a cube-root law plot was developed for the dissolution before the critical time of ideally distributed powders. Such an approximation does not hold, however, for severely truncated log-normal distributions. The work of previous investigators in this area appears to be incorrect and is discussed.
