Abstract
Metallic engineered nanoparticles are now being used extensively in various fields such as cosmetics, agriculture, Nano medicines and catalysis. Due to their excess use nanoparticles leach out into the environment posing a threat to living beings. Study of dissolution behaviour of nanoparticles is important for understanding the toxicity of Nanoparticles towards plants, humans and animals. Toxicity and uptake pathway of nanoparticles is strongly affected by the form in which Nanoparticles are present in solution. Dissolution data available for NPs shows that dissolution is affected by various factors such as size and composition as well as by the exposure media. For studying the toxic effects of NPs it is important that dissolution behaviour is also considered.
