Abstract
Emission cross sections were measured for the Lyman series of an H atom split from an SiH 4 molecule by electron impact in the energy range from the threshold up to 1000 eV. The Fano-plot analysis shows that the symmetrically forbidden excited states of SiH 4 play a considerable role in producing H atoms in the np 2P states. It was found that the intensity distribution of the spectral lines for the hydrogen Lyman series is well represented by the statistical one.
