Abstract

Measurements on rounded Pt crystals show that, at low contamination levels, Si poisons {210} areas selectively. By blocking its CO adsorption sites, which are identical with its kink sites, Si reduces the dissociation activity of the {210}. Other areas with kinked edges do not appear to be affected.
