Dissipative and conservative chaotic nature of a new quasi-periodically forced oscillator with megastability

Abstract

Very little research is available on megastability in chaotic systems. In this paper, megastability in a new chaotic system with dissipative and conservative nature is reported. The new system is a quasi-periodically forced damped double well excitation system. Three different cases are considered for our study. In one case, the new system has dissipative behaviour whereas, in the other two cases, the system has conservative behaviour. Megastability is viewed with the coexistence of various attractors when the system has conservative behaviour. A chaotic system with such nature is rare in the literature.
