Abstract

Hydatid disease is uncommon in the British Isles although many cases have been reported even in recent years. A survey of the relevant literature has revealed relatively few instances of hydatid disease in young children. Jonathan (1960) was able to publish a series of 44 cases which included a boy, aged four years, who presented with similar features to the sporadic case reported here.
