Abstract

Global innovation paradigm has increasingly been impacted by the ‘bottom-up’ approach of innovation. Disruptive innovations emanating from the base of the pyramid have been gaining much prominence in developed markets of late. Disruptive innovations hold the promise of addressing the affordability and acceptability criteria of the mass market customers. The aim of this paper is to investigate the pattern of firm specific means that can lead to have a significant impact on its innovative performance. This is illustrated by an intensive case research of two emerging market firms before conclusions are drawn on how to act in response to the disruptive innovation opportunities.
