Abstract

The proper environmentally final disposal of a municipal solid waste is one of the most important environmental issues facing society. Even before the formation of urban centers, the production of waste and its disposal are difficult to solve. As an alternative to reduce the environmental impacts caused by the increasing acumulation of waste was published, on August 2, 2010, Law No. 12,305 establishing the National Policy of Solid Waste in Brazil. This research aimed to analyze the irregular disposal of solid waste in the urban areas of ??Ituiutaba-MG. The methodology used included: bibliographic research; conducting semi-structured interviews with the entities in charge for solid waste management in the city of Ituituaba; On site work for photographic records and mapping of irregular disposal points presented in the urban area. The results showed the existence of 37 sites of irregular solid waste disposal in February 2016 concentrated on the outskirts of the city of Ituiutaba. In November of the same year, there was the agglomeration of several smaller points, arose of a new area of ??irregular disposal and the absence of 3 points, confirming the actions by the Municipal Government in cleaning these areas.
