Abstract
The procedure of using pre-filled oxygen humidifier bottles until empty was evaluated for patient safety by bacteriologically sampling in-use bottles over a one-month period. No significant contamination was found. This suggests that these bottles can be used safely until empty, resulting in substantial cost-savings to the institution.
