Abstract

An annular plate clamped at both inner and outer edges and loaded at an arbitrary point by a transverse concentrated force is mechanically analysed via a purely flexural model. A series solution in terms of plate deflections is obtained, whose coefficients are analytically evaluated by resorting to a computer algebra package. A series acceleration technique is exploited for computational purposes. Several practically significant isometric projections and diagrams are presented which reproduce the plate deflections for a variety of plate geometries and load locations.
