Abstract

* Maria Stavropoulou received her J.D. at the University of Athens, and her two LL.M. degrees at the University of London and Harvard Law School. The author served at the United Nations Centre for Human Rights from 1993 to 1996; at the time of writing this article she was pursuing Ph.D. studies at the University of Munich. She is currently protection officer UNHCR in Athens, Greece.
