Abstract
An analysis of the wavelength dispersion of the Kerr constant B in liquid nitrobenzene, for the 476.5–676.4 nm region, is presented in conjunction with experimental data obtained by a novel electro-optic modulation technique (FDEOM method) using laser sources. The effect in question is approached via a Sellmeier-type formulation in the framework of molecular theory. A fitting of the corresponding empirical and theoretical formulas is also included; the goodness of fit verifies the applicability of the adopted model.
