Abstract

The dispersion of the refractive index has been studied near the 2 s exciton resonance as well as the 1 s exciton resonance in thin RbI and KI single crystals at 11 K by applying the Fabry-Perot interference method to them. The results are analyzed using the polariton dispersion formula based on a two-oscillator model. The new fitting of dispersion curves results in revised values of the 1 s exciton parameters. In addition, the 2 s exciton parameters can also be evaluated. These values of exciton parameters are shown to be in accordance with the data obtained from other experiments.
