Abstract

The analysis and experimental testing of dispersioncavities with volume holographic transmission gratings areperformed. Depending on the angular selectivity and dispersion of the gratings, which determine the lasing linewidth, the required tuning range is accessible by rotating only one ofthe cavity mirrors or the grating — mirror unit about a givenaxis. The angular selectivity of the volume gratings is shownto play a decisive role in determining the lasing linewidth, making it possible to realise single-mode lasing in nanosecondlasers without using telescopic optics.
