Abstract
Refineries are large scale systems where large quantities of materials are handled and improvements in the coordination of processes may result in significant economic effects. This paper aims at presenting an actual decision support systems to be used at the operational control level for coordination of production processes in a refinery environment. The paper is divided into three sections mainly referring to: a) hints of optimization problem formulation and an illustrative example, b) DISPATCHER-R architecture and utilization and c) conclusions and further developments.
