Abstract

As a breast cancer community, we unfortunately know that disparities continue to exist within the United States when it comes to screening and access, despite arguably the most public awareness of this type of cancer in comparison with other cancer types. Unfortunately, the disparities are multifactorial and vary based on (including, but not limited to) literacy level, race, geographics, insurance coverage, and financial barriers. For example, racial disparities in cancer mortality have not improved when comparing Black with White patients over the past decade.
