Abstract
In 3 of 4 dogs, reduction by 60% of the parietal cell mass of the main stomach caused a significant increase in gastric juice output from an innervated pouch, while acid output was increased. Others' observations that vagotomy of the main stomach leads to enhanced denervated pouch secretion was confirmed. These findings are all best explained by reduction of antral and duodenal inhibition rather than vagotomy effects alone.
