Abstract

This is a refreshingly easy book to read and is full of factual information that parents, carers and professionals from all disciplines will find informative. Each neuro-developmental problem is described with an introduction, before physical, behavioural and cognitive features are discussed. Assessment and treatment plans are then looked at which involves an holistic, multidisciplinary approach, where necessary, with the family taking centre stage in the involvement. Vignettes provide examples of real-life stories and show how support and interventions have helped other children and their families. This offers parents or carers who read this book an unpatronising, realistic and achievable approach for them and their children. The title of the book and, indeed, the front cover picture showing a child wearing glasses upside-down, epitomises the theme of this book. By describing children as disorganised rather than disabled or handicapped, the editors could help parents to face unknown challenges and daily adversities.
