Abstract
The dislocation structures of B2 phase in Ti-42Al-6V-1Cr alloy deformed at room temperature (RT), 700 °C and 800 °C were investigated in detail. At RT and 700 °C, the 〈110〉 type dislocations were active in B2 grains. The {111}〈110〉 slip systems satisfy the von Mises criterion and this is a contributor to the ductility. At 800 °C, three different types of dislocations were observed, containing 〈111>, <110〉 and 〈100〉-type dislocations. Based on microstructural evidence, recovery process occurs by a combination of rearrangement of dislocations and subgrain structures. The more slip modes are activated and this would lead to softening.
