Abstract

Abstract Creep properties of crystalline materials can often be improved by adding dispersions of second-phase inclusions. The creep behaviour of this type of material often characterized by a strong dependence of creep rate upon stress. In this paper the relative importance of dislocation looping, dislocation climb, inclusion cutting and inclusion drag is assessed during creep. A way in which a strong stress dependence can arise is suggested.
