Abstract
Frequency dependent attenuation of megahertz sound has been measured at various temperatures in hcp 4He crystals grown under constant pressure. The results were analyzed on the basis of the vibrating string model of dislocations. The dislocation density and the damping constant of crystals have been detemined as functions of temperature after considering the origin of dislocation pinning.
