Abstract

The interaction between flux lines and dislocations is investigated in twisted niobium single crystals by simultaneously measuring the flux gradient and the dislocation arrangement. With increasing deformation the specimens show tangles of dislocations and the tendency to form a cell structure. Subsequent annealing treatments decrease the dislocation density and lead to a rearrangement of the dislocations into hexagonal networks. This causes a considerable increase of the flux gradient.
