Abstract

In this interview, anthropologist Matthew Gutmann discusses gender violence, especially with respect to antiwar veterans of the Iraq War, and the image they had to face of themselves as invaders and occupiers of a foreign land. The veterans developed a strong allegiance with civilians in Iraq, as they were facing the brunt of the war's terrors.
