Abstract

Posterior sternoclavicular dislocations are rare post-traumatic conditions but once diagnosed, they are associated with a high rate of severe complications. Diagnosis is generally based on history of a traumatic episode, but imaging studies are usually recommended as diagnostic confirmation. Surgical treatment depends greatly on the existence of mediastinal lesions or compressions, and different techniques for closed and open reduction have been described for this purpose.
