Abstract

The article aims to identify uses and guidelines for the use of teaching materials that are used in educational work with children with Down Syndrome. An analysis of the specialized literature was carried out, identifying those recommendations that carry out various reported investigations. Likewise, an interview was applied to 2 cases of teachers with more than 5 years of experience in the treatment and attention of this type of children in public schools in the State of Hidalgo. The results reflect that personalized materials should be made based on knowledge of the general and particular characteristics of children with Down Syndrome, seeking to explore all the senses to promote meaningful learning based on situated activities. Finally, some guidelines and recommendations are offered that may be useful for teachers in training or novices who are interested in working with this population.
