Abstract

In 2013, the Ministry of Education in Colombia published the Guidelines for Inclusive Higher Education, a framework to be adapted by universities. Based on these guidelines, this study designed instruments and a methodology to measure the level of social inclusion at Universidad Autonoma de Bucaramanga. Two surveys were designed, in order to assess 311 senior students and 46 professors. In addition, and by using a rubric, content analysis was done on documents of institutional policy. The results were analyzed by data triangulation, to identify strengths, weaknesses and areas of improvement. The design of a methodology to facilitate the implementation of the Ministry´s guidelines can be considered a contribution of this research; specially in the context of a country ending a 50 year old conflict and starting a process of peace and social inclusion.
