Abstract

The amygdala is important for fear perception and aggression regulation. Prior studies have associated smaller amygdala with psychotic and non-psychotic violence. Amygdala consists of structurally and functionally distinct nuclei that may be differently involved in violent and aggressive behavior. We here explore associations between MRI-derived amygdala nuclei volumes, psychosis, and violent offending.
