Abstract

AbstractThis chapter reviews the distribution, importance, aetiology, epidemiology and control of diseases of Annonaceae, together with characteristics of the host fruits. Important diseases include anthracnose (Glomerella cingulata), Armillaria root rot, bacterial wilt (caused by Ralstonia solanacearum), black canker (Phomopsis annonacearum) Botryodiplodia fruit rot (Diplodia theobromae), leaf and fruit spot (caused by Cylindrocladium colhounii [Calonectria colhounii] and Cylindrocladium leguminum), Pestalotia fruit spot, root and fruit purple blotch (Phytophthora palmivora), pink disease (Erythricium salmonicolor), Pseudocercospora fruit and leaf spot, pythium root rot, rust (Phakopsora cherimoliae), scab (Elsinoë annonae) and yellow blotch [? soursop yellow blotch virus].
