Abstract

Mushrooms produce quality food if we compared it with food produced from green plants. Its versatile nature will supports it as a valuable tool in medicinal and metabolic researches. The edible mushroom not only provides food with rich in nutrients but also with plenty of medicinal benefits too. Similarly to crop plant, mushrooms are also subjected to different diseases during cultivation. Both primary and secondary factors may lead to different diseases during cropping. The major causes for bacterial and fungal diseases likely to come from using infected compost and substrates used for cultivation. Most of the viral diseases are likely to get spread from spores. Mushroom cultivation is severely affected from diseases in terms of losses and thus proper management is needed throughout the cropping period.
