Abstract

What are multi-ethnic groups? The population of the UK consists of multi-ethnic groups, meaning that there are resident in the UK more than one ethnic group. These groups are sub-divided into two catagories — ethnic majority and ethnic minority. According to the registrar General’s classification, ethnic majority groups consist of English, Scottish and Welsh; ethnic minority groups include Irish, Polish Jews, Italians, Hungarians, Afro-Caribbeans, Asians, Chinese and Cypriots. There are, of course, numerous other ethnic minority groups. All these are British — whites, blacks, Asians and so on.
