Abstract

The authors of this report describe the action of botulinum toxin on a focal hyperhidrosis (gustatory sweating, Frey's syndrome). This therapeutic option has been successfully applied by our group since 1993 in patients with this syndrome. Approximately 15% of patients who undergo parotidectomy for different pathologic states suffer from severe gustatory sweating and want to be treated. Gustatory sweating after neck dissection or infections of the central nervous system is also described but, because of the fewer number of cases to be treated, is of lower interest.
