Abstract

The implementation of feeder automation (FA) based on the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Feeder Terminal Unit (FTU) relies on the reliability of SCADA system at main stations or substations, telecom system, primary devices and FTU. The FA system at main stations or substations should analyze the data acquired from SCADA and strengthen practicability. Conditions to make sure FA system being started are proposed and fault-tolerance and error-correcting methods are presented considering the communication failure at some points, the FTU mistakenly sending or missing to send the fault information, the incorrect trips of the breakers and missing trips or missing closes. A three-power-supply loop network is given in this paper to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. (6 pages)
