Discussion on “An analytical approach for the prediction of single pile and pile group behaviour in clay” by Brian B. Sheil, and Bryan A. McCabe [Comput. Geotech. 75 (2016) 145–158

Abstract

In a recent paper [Comput. Geotech. 75 (2016) 145–158] the authors proposed a simplified method to describe the nonlinear behaviour of a single pile and a pile group considering the interaction between two-piles. In the present note, some key questions, e.g., the prediction of the settlement at the midpoint of each segment, the effects of parameters on the modulus degradation curve, and the response of a pile group with different conditions of pile cap, are discussed in detail.
