Abstract
In the literature and also in papers presented at this conference attemps are made to determine the diffusion coefficients of the alloying elements during corrosion of austenitic stainless steel in liquid sodium. I am afraid that these approaches lack the fundamental basis. As shown in the following the diffusion coefficients can be calculated under specific conditions, different to the conditions the above mentioned papers deal with.
