The discussion began with the historical aspects of the discovery of Neptune and Pluto. The favorable geometry for the prediction of Neptune was noted. Message recalled that both Adams and LeVerrier predicted a more distant Neptune, but the distance did not matter. The important thing was that there had been a conjunction between Uranus and Neptune prior to the discovery of Neptune. In the case of the discovery of Pluto there had been no conjunction between Pluto and Neptune prior to the discovery of Pluto and the geometry was not as favorable.
