Abstract
The paper is a welcome addition to the literature dealing with the analytical solutions of the elastic buckling of columns having a weakened cross section or junction. This paper is a very good benchmark for the numerical approaches. The discusser wants to show how, using two numerical approaches—the contact element approach and the parallel connecting beams approach—the same results could be obtained.
