Abstract
We describe a log likelihood method that allows to compare the arrival directions of the highest energy cosmic rays with the distribution expected in a given source catalog. This method provides good discrimination power despite the limited numbers of event available, without requiring any binning of the sky directions. The data collected by the Auger experiment above ∼ 50 – 70 EeV show a correlation with the local distribution of matter within a few hundred of Mpc and are inconsistent with the expectation from an isotropic distribution.
