Abstract

The role of discreteness-of-charge effects in the kinetics of heterogeneous electron transfer and their influence on the magnitude of the experimentally observed transfer coefficient are described for reactions at the metal/electrolyte solution interface. The magnitude of these effects is estimated for the case that the reaction takes place in the inner part of the double layer. The results are discussed with respect to pertinent experimental data.
