Abstract
The inverse scattering method for the discrete nonlinear Schrodinger equation i(dqn/dt)+(1- mod qn mod 2)(qn-1+qn+1-2qn)+2( rho 2- mod qn mod 2)qn=0 under nonvanishing boundary conditions is developed. Multisoliton solutions are obtained. A number of examples related to some physical problems are considered.
