Abstract

Anisotropic permanent magnets are generally produced via powder compaction with magnetic alignment. This works aimed to develop a discrete element method (DEM) for simulating the particle motion in powder compaction process with addition of magnetic field. As the first step, compression tests were carried out without magnetic field in order to confirm the validity of our model. Subsequently, the magnetic-aligned powder compaction process were visualized by using simulation. The compaction curve and particle alignment obtained by simulation almost agrees with experimental results.
