Abstract
Abstract We establish a discrete model for the Ablowitz–Kaup–Newell–Segur (AKNS) equation via generalised Cauchy matrix approach. Two semidiscrete AKNS equations are obtained by, respectively, introducing straight continuum limit and skew continuum limit. Some reductions are also discussed.
