Abstract

This paper reports on the discovery of total failure of the long-used laws of reflection and refraction of light to explain the phenomena of reflection and refraction. It claims that the traditional laws of reflection (refraction) of light which have been in regular use for more than two hundred years could not define the exact direction along which a ray of light incident obliquely on a plane reflecting surface (surface of discontinuity) will move after suffering reflection (refraction). The generalized vectorial law of reflection (refraction), discovered by the author in 2005 has been employed to explain the phenomena of reflection and refraction satisfactorily.
