Abstract

The magnetic properties of ${\mathrm{CaCuGe}}_{2}$${\mathrm{O}}_{6}$, a cuprate related to the spin-Peierls material ${\mathrm{CuGeO}}_{3}$, were studied. The magnetic susceptibility and the magnetization curve were measured. They revealed that this compound has a spin-singlet ground state and a finite energy gap between the ground and excited states. We discuss the origin of such a property of ${\mathrm{CaCuGe}}_{2}$${\mathrm{O}}_{6}$.
